newsletter #74 - local corn, Manny & a new baby

Hey Everyone,

It's the heart of summer. And for us and our weird fast-food family, there's no better time than right now.

See, this week, corn was harvested at Dick's Market Garden, the local, family farm that grows lots of our fruits and veggies. And that means we're finally bringing our beautiful, sweet babies back to you (and to some butter and salt).

Yes, today, our new seasonal side is grilled local corn. (We're so excited we even made a salsa with it for our new seasonal burger called The Sal Bacado.) It's also a happy time because we know we get to visit one of you guys. In our mid-summer tradition, we're bringing fresh steaks, our grinder, and Manny (our dancing grill-guy and our first employee ever) over to a lucky family member's house. Just tell us why Manny should grind and grill burgers at your place for a summer night's BBQ for you and your buddies. And these are also great days because we're getting ready to give birth to our 8th b.good baby. Even though we love them all the same, this baby is going to be a little extra special because of where it's located – smack dab in the middle of downtown Boston, directly on the Freedom Trail. (Since we started our business in Boston, having a restaurant baby here is pretty much a dream come true.) If everything works out, we'll be grinding beef at 255 Washington Street just after Labor Day.

To celebrate all this good stuff, we're grilling free local corn for our kinfolk today with a purchase. To get yours, just print this email (or show it to us on your phone), come see us anytime today, July 29^th, AND BUY ANY BURGER, SANDWICH, OR SALAD.

No copies or forwards. Violators aren't just subject to paying for corn. They're subject to Aaron, the b.good family member who named our new burger "The Sal Bacado". But, even though the name was witty (it's an abbreviation for corn salsa, bacon, avocado), it wasn't the thing that let us know Aaron was different. We knew that because he also wrote that he liked the name because it sounded "like a baseball player from the 70s with a crazy mustache". It's that kind of weird little extra effort that made it clear he'd protect us from the imposters who try to exploit our love for family.

As always, if you know anyone who likes corn, having steak ground at their home, or just wants to be loved like family, forward this and tell them to join ours.

P.S. While they're not from our Brookline roof-top garden, we are serving up local tomatoes from Dick's in today's new tomato mozzarella salad. (The ones in Brookline are coming along though. So, it won't be too much longer until they're on top of our burgers there.)

P.P.S. We didn't forget to invite you to our annual family BBQ this summer. So, just like we do every year, we'll be closing early one night and inviting you to come party with the guys who grind your burgers. But, this year, we're trying to do something a little different by turning the BBQ into a charity festival that will help out a fellow family member.
