Meet Alex (the swimmer)
Meet Chris (the biker)
Meet Christian (the runner)
Alex “The Pain Train” Meyer, as he has been so appropriately named, is a masochist indeed. He is a freshman at Harvard and swims on the Varsity team. Some of his hobbies include playing guitar, keeping Chris awake at night by either talking to his girlfriends in the room, making him sleep on the couch, and stumbling into the room at three in the morning and knocking Chris’ bike over after insisting that Chris wake up and come sing with him (we are roommates). Alex hails from the majestic land of Ithaca, NY, which has come to be known commonly as “ten square miles surrounded by reality”, which quite accurately describes Alex’s persona. He is also an accomplished blues and jazz musician, which probably has a lot to do with why he has so many girlfriends. He also cracks himself up.

Alex is very excited about this triathlon, and sees it as a great opportunity to dominate the competition in the name of b.good. Though he has confidence in his teammates, he has some concerns as well.

Chris Hong, the cyclist, seems to share a similar passion for pain and the pain barrier that Alex does, but also seems to think that common road and traffic signs do not apply to him, which has proved on several occasions in the past few months to be quite counter-productive. You would think that after getting hit by a car twice and having your right leg tye-dyed purple and red, among other incidents, one would learn to stop at stop signs and red lights. Hopefully, Chris will remain safe and injury-free up until race day, and obey traffic signals (except speed limits).

Christian “Red Hot” Flow, the runner, a classics major at Harvard, spits hot fire and his competitors will tremble in their sneakers when they hear his graceful spontaneous prose about how much our relay is going to whoop everybody else. Another reason I have such confidence in this team is because since nobody will be able to keep up with Alex or Chris, nobody would dare pass the Mighty Christian for fear of getting punched in the face after the race because of Christian’s touchy temper. Now you understand why we call him “Red Hot”. It’s not really his fault though, it was the ballerina’s fault. Red Hot also describes his chiseled abdominal muscles, which he likes to show off a lot, often with the intent to woo other ballerinas back in to his life.

On a more serious note, Alex is a serious, competitive distance and open water swimmer on the national circuit. He plans to compete in the 2008 Olympic Team Trials in Nebraska. He trains between 15 and 25 hours a week at different parts of the season and plans to swim through college and possibly get more into open water after he graduates.
