My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: East Meets West

Why:
From the East: MA/NY - bleu cheese, maybe spinach?, apples, balsamic vinegar From the West: CA - cherries, arugula, almonds
-- 2008-03-31 21:33:22

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: "New Metro" or "Retro Metro"

Why:
I wanted to invoke a New England classic aesthetic crafted for sophisticated salad lovers' tastes. The dried apples and baby spinach could be locally grown; whereas the arugula, bleu cheese and dried cherries are definitely an upscale import. Almonds and balsamic fall in the middle. The combo pulls together old fashioned standards with a twist.
-- 2008-03-31 20:47:28

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Hallelujah Harvest

Why:
Harvest because the arugula, baby spinach, apples and cherries conjure up a farm stand feel and hallelujah because this salad was sent straight from the heavens!
-- 2008-03-31 19:03:11

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: When Harry Met Sally

Why:
Because this is OBVIOUSLY the salad Meg Ryan was eating during the infamous orgasm scene!
-- 2008-03-31 18:45:56

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Perfect Stranger

Why:
Combining apples and cherries, blue cheese, and almonds to an already fresh salad may sound a bit nutty to most people. Perhaps some would even say the idea is too fruity for prime-time. But then the same thing could be said about Balki Bartokomous, a distant cousin of Larry Appleton who dropped in from Mypos, an island in the Mediterranean, to live with him. Together, for 8 glorious seasons, their cheesy humor and delicious laughter made them Perfect Strangers. Just the thought of eating a salad ripe with other great things from the Mediterranean, such as arugula and balsamic vinaigrette, makes me want to get up and do Balki's "Dance of Joy." And isn't that what good food is all about?
-- 2008-03-31 13:35:10

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: The Jodie Dallas

Why:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0075584/ nonapologetically, this is an un-PC name -- a fruity and nutty salad deserves to be named after someone fruity and nutty -- and who better than Billy Crystal's gay vantriloquist character from the sadly non-frequently referenced series "Soap".
-- 2008-03-31 12:34:04

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Tasty Trail Mix Salad

Why:
Because of the dried fruit and nuts....
-- 2008-03-31 12:20:22

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: Statler

Why:
As pop culture fans know, Statler and Waldorf were the two hecklers from the audience on The Muppet Show and since Waldorf already has a salad tribute (the classic apple, celery, walnuts, and mayonnaise salad - actually named for the Waldorf hotel), isn't it time that Statler had a salad for him as well. Plus the dried fruit is emblematic of Statler's advanced age, the balsamic vinaigrette reflects his acidic wit, and the blue cheese reminds of the cheesy jokes that Fozzie Bear would tell that they would groan at. Finally, doesn't the world always need more tributes to Jim Henson.
-- 2008-03-31 12:18:58

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Bamm-Bamm Rubble

Why:
Everyone knows eating spinach makes you strong like the adopted son of Betty and Barney... the inclusion of the word "Rubble" is a nice combination descriptor and allusion... the irregular sized pieces of blue cheese, almonds, apples, and cherries are sure to be a delicious pile! ...plus it gives you the opportunity to introduce a "Pebbles" some day!

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: Skippy Handleman/Millhouse

Why:
Okay Guys – HERE IT IS!!!! First, you’ll have to put up with my logic before getting to the BEST NAMES EVER!!!! So, here we go… B. Good will always be known as a “burger” joint. Burgers are awesome. They’re tough, masculine (sometimes) and just flat out cool. Burgers are like the Terminator of the food world. You don’t mess with em’. The salad however, is like the little nerdy guy who is always trying to fit in, but can never really hang with the cool crowd, no matter how hard he tries. He’s always the underdog. You like him though. He’s a great guy with a wonderful heart. But he’s not exactly the Prom King type or a Chick-Magnet. When I go into B. Good and order a salad (I often eat the burgers too), I can’t help but feel a little inferior to the guy next to me who has decided to dominate a Cousin Oliver with some fries and a shake. I know that the B. Good staff and the other patrons are staring at me thinking, “Did that guy just order a salad? What a wuss”. I want to tell them all that I crushed two burgers the night before, but I never do. I just stand there and take the silent beating. No matter how hard we may try, “The Salad” will always have its own place on every menu - in a separate section away from the “popular” dishes. We should accept this fact and work with it, not fight it. So, in recognition of the shy-guy or “nerd” in all of us, I would like to nominate two names that seem to fit this theme. I can’t seem to decide which one I like best after weeks of deliberation. I hope you guys like at least one of them… NAME #1: SKIPPY HANDLEMAN Erwin “Skippy Handleman was the next-door neighbor on Family Ties and the best friend of Alex P. Keaton. If you recall, he had a big crush on pretty-girl Malorie, but no matter how hard he tried he was never quite “cool” enough to get her attention. Everyone that watched the show loved Skippy. You felt for Skippy. You wanted to see him win the girl. But the big, tough, motorcycle-guys always ended up with Malorie instead. This would be a great way to pay homage to the man we all knew as “Skippy” and make one famous nerd just a bit cooler. NAME #2: THE MILLHOUSE Everyone knows the character Millhouse from the Simpsons. Like Skippy, he is constantly trying to run with the cool crowd. He’s adorable and loveable, just not the toughest guy in the world. He’s a bit shy and always a likely candidate to get pummeled in the schoolyard. No matter what, Millhouse always gets up and tries to gain the respect of his more popular peers. Like Skippy, we all feel for Millhouse and want to see him come out okay in the end. So there it is guys. I trust you’ll pick a great name for the new salad. Thanks, Joey

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: Sherman

Why:
I've always seen the salad as a sidekick to the regular order: whether going with a burger, a regular meal, or something else.. It's there when you need it, and it helps the regular meal kick some butt and add some flavor to an already good product. In naming a salad after a sidekick, one could choose one of the great heroic sidekicks of history (Robin, Sancho Panza, Mr. Smithers), but instead I choose Sherman, the bespectacled sidekick/boy to Mr. Peabody, that time traveling dog from "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show". Whether meeting and helping Ben Franklin or Cleopatra, Sherman was always there, occasionally helping Peabody right history, and also learn a little bit at the same time. Without Sherman, Peabody wouldn't be inspired to take the wayback machine way back into the depths of history (and, without Peabody, history itself wouldn't have moved forward). Sherman the salad would be equally important. When you consider the amount of apples and cherries in the salad, without Sherman, one could potentially miss out on their daily recommended portion of fruit! Finally (and most importantly), only Sherman could deal with Peabody's nutty (almondy?) puns.

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: Lisa Simpson

Why:
Lisa is a vegetarian and was always trying to get Homer to eat healthier foods. I think Homer would have loved this salad because it's so delicious! ****************** Homer: (Offering Lisa a donut.) Donut? Lisa: Uh...got any fruit? Homer: This one has purple in it. Purple's a fruit!!
-- 2008-03-31 09:51:22

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Dharma

Why:
Dharma (of Dharma and Greg) was a vegetarian and this is just the sort of food she would have loved! I think she even could have convinced Greg to eat this yummy salad.

My b.good: NewburySt

your salad name: Aunt Alli

Why:
Beacause my Aunt Alli makes salads just like that, with fruits and nuts etc.
-- 2008-03-31 07:57:16

My b.good: NewburySt

your salad name: Sweet Tangy 'n' All Good salad OR simply the All Good salad

Why:
I came in on my 20 minute break from work so i had to eat pretty fast. For each mouthful, I couldn't use careful hand eye planning to fork in the 'little of bit everything' bites. But even with my speed eating, a new flavor emerged with every bite. Under frondlets of spinach and peppery arugula, I found tart cherries and nutty almonds. Crumplets of something sweet (apples I now know) and the tangy-ness of blue cheese also made their entrance. And then there was the balsamic vinegar to bring it all together. There were all kinds of flavors, tastes, and textures, from tangy to sweet and creamy to crunchy but, most importantly, it was alllll gooooood.
-- 2008-03-30 20:50:54

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: Green Machine

Why:
You remember that awesome 1974 movie where the convicts played football against the prison guards and Bert Reynolds was the quarterback? Yeah...me too (please don't bring up Adam Sandler. The remake still hurts me inside). The Mean Machine rolled in for the winning score and gave a big, fat black eye to the Man in the process. Well, it's the same deal here, except instead of the Man we're talking soggy, watered down salads. And instead of Bert Reynolds, we've got dried apples...and cherries. Take that, assembly-line ruffage. Green Machine! Green Machine! Green Machine!
-- 2008-03-30 20:43:55

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: The Big Green Monster

Why:
Is it even a contest? Obviously, The Big Green Monster is the most appropriate name for the newest salad in the Boston-based b.good's menu. First and foremost, The Big Green Monster, like this salad is destined to be, is a symbol of how Boston does everythign bigger and better. Visitors from other states, who are used to getting fast food from boring places like McDonald's, Burger King, and yes, Wendy's, are no doubt used to their salads being edible, but overall boring, uninspired, and in some cases, not even that good for you. The Big Green Monster, however, like its baseball counterpart, will be one of the first tell-tale signs to one outside of Boston that they have been doing it all wrong. The name isn't about the ingredients, but the salad as a whole, and what it means to those of us who would see it. It's a reminder that where you are. you will find the best, most grandest salad of all. And it's about pride- pride of who are you, and where you come from, and pride in yourself to make the choices to eat responsibly. That, my friend, is why you should name this new salad "The Big Green Monster". And if that doesn't convince you, sit on this: Red Sox + Boston = instant win, and will do wonders to expand your already growing family. Cheers!

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Betsy Ross

Red cherries, white apples and almonds, and blue cheese - a patriotic salad deserves a patriotic name! Whom better to name it after than the woman responsible for the first American flag?
-- 2008-03-29 12:33:52

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: Baby Tabitha

Why:
Tabitha is the name of Darrin and Samantha Stephens' infant daughter on the television sitcom BEWITCHED, which originally aired from 1964 to 1972. Tabitha is half-witch and half-mortal -- her mother has magical powers but her father does not. Ten reasons why B.Good should name its new salad "Baby Tabitha": 10. Tabitha is a mixed-breed infant, just like B.Good's new baby, which brings together different kinds of lettuce and dried fruit. 9. The word "baby" in the name "Baby Tabitha" hints at the salad's delicious baby spinach. 8. On BEWITCHED, the character Tabitha was introduced in 1966, two years after the show debuted and had become a hit. Similarly, B.Good has become an established hit in the Boston area, and is now introducing a new baby salad to its menu. Audiences loved Tabitha when she was born on the television show, and customers are bound to love B.Good's new baby as well! 7. Jon and Anthony -- I think it's about time for a girl's name to appear on B.Good's menu. "Cousin Oliver," "Adopted Luke," and "El Guapo" are all perfect little names, but they're all masculine! "Tabitha" is not only a weird little name, but it would add some diversity to your group of customer-created names. 6. Speaking personally, I LOVED the TV show BEWITCHED when I was younger -- I watched it all the time on Nick at Nite. This former addiction parallels my current addiction to B.Good salads. Ask any one of my closest friends -- if you wanted me to pick a favorite between the New American, the Caesar, and the Asian Chicken salads, I couldn't do it! I love all the ingredients in B.Good's new salad as well. 5. Tabitha is an unusual name, and it will definitely stick out in the minds of your customers. 4. As a character in a fun and quirky television family, Baby Tabitha would be a fantastic name for B.Good's own fun and quirky family. 3. If you mix around the letters of "B.Good Tabitha," you get "Habit at B.Good" -- and customers will surely get in the habit of eating this yummy salad at B.Good. 2. The character Tabitha is both sweet and daring -- she's an adorable infant who makes mischief with her magic. B.Good's new salad is also both sweet and bold, with sweet dried cherries and dried apples on the one hand, and blue cheese / crunchy almonds / peppery arugula on the other hand. 1. Anyone who tries B.Good's new salad is bound to be bewitched by it!
-- 2008-03-29 12:05:10

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: sweet tart (sweetheart, get it?) greens

Why:
It's sweet, it's tart, it's good for the heart. Red, green, white, & bleu, it's real good for you. The price is right; tastebuds' delight. This rhyme is cheesy, but the salad goes down easy. (ugh ;-)
-- 2008-03-29 11:07:02

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: red, white & blue greens

Why:
1. It's partriotic (red cherries, white apples, blue cheese, green greens) 2. It's colorful (colorful = good) 3. It's all one-syllable words (easy to say, for native & non-native English speakers alike)
-- 2008-03-29 10:51:24

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Spring Training

Why:
Because the salad just screams spring, with it's fresh spinach and arugula. But it's also training us that fast food salads don't have to be wilted lettuce and little plastic packets of toppings sealed inside a space age capsule. Oh, and this is just the first of the many salads that you'll be hitting it out of the park with!
-- 2008-03-29 10:11:16

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Love at First Sight: Popeye Meets Olive Oyl

Why:
I am always one for a love story and a sailor with his lady melts my heart. And everyone will fall in love with this salad just like Popeye and Olive Oyl. Popeye is a hot shot when he eats his spinach but when he meets peppery and sweet Olive Oyl it's just love at first sight.
-- 2008-03-28 23:15:42

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: Trail Mix Salad or Earthy Blend Salad

Why:
I picked out two names for this very yummy salad; I couldn't choose and therefore I leave it to the B. Good staff since you are the ones making the final decision! When I first tried it, and savored the crunchy sweet nuts, and dried cherries, I thought that it tasted just like the most delicious blend of trail mix in a salad! The perfect mixture of creamy blue cheese, and the nuts, dried apples and cherries, mixed with the sweetness of the balsamic vinaigrette created the perfect blend that is the "Trail Mix Salad." I also liked the name "Earthy Blend Salad,” for the new creation, because the ingredients are very simple yet come together in the most tasteful manner. I hope you like my names. Even if I don’t win, I will still be in to have this awesome salad! Great work, and I look forward to hearing the new name! Talk to you soon. Katie BTW-thanks for giving it away for free on Thursday!
-- 2008-03-28 22:17:48

My b.good: Dartmouth

your salad name: Human b. In

Why:
Thank you Wikipedia: The Human Be-In was a happening in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, the afternoon and evening of January 14, 1967. It was a prelude to San Francisco's Summer of Love, which made the Haight-Ashbury district a household word as the center of an American counterculture and introduced the word 'psychedelic' to suburbia. It's earthy, it's crunchy, it sounds like human being, and it's psychedelic! Who wouldn't like to have a psychedelic lunch?!

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Nice toss, baby!

Why:
It’s complimentary and catchy. This salad is 'tossed' with perfect and everyone needs to know that. The 'Baby' is the the spinach (of course). Plus, there are Tom Brady undertones because in Boston, everything goes back to the Pats or the Sox.

your salad name: Crunchy, Cheesy, Green and Fruity

Why:
I think it accurately describes what is going on in the salad, which is fierce btw! The only thing i would add would be chicken to make it a meal.

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: You're my boy, Blue!

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: The Red, White, and Bleu

Why:
To replace the New American Salad, I suggest keeping with the patriotic theme: red for the cherries, white for the apples and almonds, and bleu for the cheese. -- Andy and I tried the salad and we both loved it! Good luck from Marilyn

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: Queen Mum

Why:
Though the British aren't renowned for their vegetables, this salad could be the emblem of British identity Gordon Brown is seeking. Much like the British people, the salad is dry, nutty, and fruity. Like the Union Jack, it's red, white, and bleu. I wish it a long life and near-universal affection, like the Queen Mum. Also, the British call arugula "rocket," which I think is awesome.

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: Miss Goody Two Shoes

Why:
While all b. good foods may be delicious and healtful, some of our dearly loved family members--such as el guapo--can come across as a bit untidy and indulgent. This salad with its simplistic fresh, natural, and neat ingredients is a bit more prim and proper--Thus, the Miss Goody Two Shoes. Furthermore, what is a "Miss Goody Two Shoes"? Someone who is "uncommonly good." This salad will be just that. So, here's to adding a tidy, dainty member to the family--who we will all soon love!

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: b. good Blue Rocket Salad

Why:
As a graduate student, I'm constantly searching for accurate, reliable and current resources to reference. In my recent research, I've been testing the reliablility of Wikipedia. If Wikipedia is good enough for my Neuroscience research, it's good enough for the best fast food in the nation. According to Wikipedia, the ever accurate webcyclopedia, arugula is sometimes called "rocket" in common vernacular. Blue cheese is blue (in places). That's where the "blue" comes from. Again, consulting Wikipedia, a salad is: "a mixture of cold foods, usually including vegetables or fruits, often with a dressing or sauce, occasionally nuts..." clearly Wikipedia is a reliable source, its entry for salad includes EVERYTHING in the Blue Rocket! Vegetables? Check! Fruits? Check! Cold foods, dressing, occasionally nuts? Check! Check! CHECK! Since b.good is a pioneer in the final frontier of fast food, it's only appropriate that b.good precedes the Blue Rocket Salad in name and recognition. Thus "b.good Blue Rocket Salad" is the new craze. Trust me. It's catchy.

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Phoebe (or Friend Phoebe)

Why:
Phoebe, one of the fabulous 'Friends' characters, was not only a very colorful, unique and even eccentric personality (much like all of the colorful, delicious goodies in the salad!) but was also an incredibly health and environmentally conscious vegetarian, which the salad also lives up to! b.good needs a female addition to the family, and Phoebe is the perfect long-lasting addition! She certainly made her presence known in Friends' scenes, like this salad will at b.good :)

My b.good: Brookline

your salad name: La Guapa

Why:
You have an El Guapo. And a Cousin Oliver. And an Adopted Luke. Isn't it about time to start exploring your softer, more feminine side? Furthermore, what better place to start that love affair than where so many women start a first date (i.e. a light salad at the restaurant, followed by potato chips and ice cream upon her return home)?

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: The Orchid, No. 15

Why:
Because it's a unique, out of the ordinary salad. If it were a TV show, it'd be as "out there" as Lost. Much like Rabbit number 15 in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bTvAUVPyLI), people will really get "worked up" over this salad! To paraphrase the immortal Dr. Hallowax, "This salad, or 'the orchid', is not a typical fast food meal. We apologize for asking you to deceive your family and colleagues. This is, of course, in the interest of great taste and health."
-- 2008-03-27 20:20:25

-- 2008-03-27 19:59:12

My b.good: Harvard

your salad name: Fresh Ferris

Why:
It's almost too good to be true--not unlike Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's nuts to think that a little blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette, dried fruit, and crisp arugula could win even my taste-buds over, but that's just the kind of cheeky miracle Ferris could pull off. Even the carnivorous Camerons of the world won't be able to resist Ferris' call for long.

your salad name: Rocket Science Experiment
